trip - Boston to Penobscot Bay Albany was part of a small British fleet that defeated an American naval force during the Penobscot Expedition of 1779. By 1782, she was declared unfit for battle and demoted to a prison ship. After discharging prisoners in Boston, she headed toward Penobscot where she was wrecked on the Triangles. For many years the wreck reportedly was visible at low water. Since Albany was a prison ship when she wrecked, she probably no longer had guns on board.
